Black and Blue

I saw an abstract painting in a furniture store I liked. Being an artist, I took a picture as a reference. I did my abstract version of it. I took the basic premise of the forms but added texture and different colors. When you observe everything, you get inspiration from the strangest places. It looks nothing like what I originally photographed. It would look great in a bedroom or dining area. It has a somber and relaxed feel to it.

Blues, greys, gold, black and red highlights and has a gloss finish.

I'm seeing a lot of artists celebrating World Photography Day today and wanted to join in on the appreciation!

It's a celebration of the way artists preserve moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Every work of art begins with the same simple act: paying attention.

Artists notice the light, the atmosphere, the emotion, the relationships, and the everyday moments that many of us walk past without a second thought.

"Big Brown Wins!" is part of that tradition. Thanks for taking a moment to reflect with me today.

Buddy 1955

This was a piece that I created for the play “Buddy” at Broadway Palms dinner theater in Mesa, AZ. I did a Solo show in their small gallery adjacent to the dinner theater. It is an abstraction of a Buddy Holly album cover. I love the edge treatment. The palette is red, orange, black, grey and silver. It’s a smaller, nice painting and would go well in a bar or more festive area.

I love this painting! This work is considered abstract expressionism. The texture and sweeping brush strokes in purple, silver, white and splattered paint. It was done in the moment, exactly how Jackson Pollack painted. It’s fun to paint this way. You cannot allow a mistake, so everything is how it is meant to be!

It has a fun, confident and free flowing feel to it.

This painting would be great for living and dining areas.
