Mic distance and angle:
What’s the best distance and angle?
Well that depends on the sound you’re trying to achieve!

The best mic technique for vocals generally involves keeping a consistent distance from the mic, usually about 6inches but a max of 12 inches away, and maintaining a steady volume and angle to avoid sudden changes in sound quality.

A closer and more straight on microphone is going to pick up more lows and give a warmer sound than that of an angled, pulled away mic. You can also achieve higher notes with a breathy tone by having a close mic that’s angled so as not to “push” on a high note but let it flow.

The four vocal techniques to remember are breath control, proper posture, resonance, and articulation, each essential for producing a clear and diverse singing voice.
