This is what I'm working to improve on before my next event.
Each of my individual items currently has a price written in the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER. I didn't think this through. When a customer is interested in an item, they use the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER to pull item off spinner (covering the price with their fingers). I'm moving the price to the TOP RIGHT CORNER to help customer find price more easily.
🎓 Vendor Business School | Lesson #21:
Price Signs
A shopper sees a jar of honey they like—but there is no price.
Now they have to stop, find the vendor, interrupt a conversation and ask. If the price is outside their budget, they may also feel pressured to explain why they are not buying.
Many shoppers avoid that uncomfortable moment by quietly walking away.
Clear price signs reduce three common barriers:
• Uncertainty about affordability
• Social pressure to speak with the vendor
• Mental effort required to compare products
Price signs also help shoppers notice differences between sizes, flavors, bundles and gift sets. They can compare their options privately and approach the vendor when they are closer to buying.
The potential cost can add up.
If five shoppers leave without purchasing and the average sale is $12:
• $60 could be missed at one show
• $1,200 could be missed across 20 shows
*This is an example—not a guaranteed sales increase. Track your own results by testing clear price signs at several events and comparing your average sales and transactions.
If shoppers have to ask the price, you are adding a step between interest and purchase.
💬 Vendor Discussion:
Are the prices in your booth visible before a shopper picks up the product?
