Today’s the big day — and we won’t let a little bit of rain dampen our spirits!

Despite the wet weather, we have a great day in store for you! Our BBQ teams will compete in their booth tents, Kiddie Corral activities will be under the Winter Oak portico, and the Cowsher Cafe will have delicious fare available inside. Regrettably, we are calling off the 3-on-3 basketball tournament this morning due to the wet conditions, but we’re hopeful we can hold the free-throw, 3-pointer and half-court shooting contests later in the day.

The basketball tournament has been an integral part of the ASBEE BBQ event for more than 25 years, and it'll be game on again this Sunday! 🏀

No advance registration required; simply come to Baron Hirsch Congregation Sunday at 8:45 a.m. and sign up on site. Join us for 3-on-3 action, along with contests for free throw, three-point and half-court shooting. ⛹️‍♀️ Kids and adults welcome to participate.

The ASBEE Kosher BBQ Contest and Festival is back! This year’s event will be Sunday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Baron Hirsch Congregation. We have over 30 teams registered to compete to prove their chops -- and there's still time to join the fun! Sign up today at baronhirsch.org/asbeekosherbbq . For all the ballers out there, the ASBEE Grizzlies 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is also back this year! First prize for adults is a set of 4 tickets to a Memphis Tigers or Grizzlies basketball game! The ASBEE Kosher BBQ Contest and Festival continues a beloved tradition of more than three decades that was started by Anshei Sphard-Beth El Emeth Congregation. Other cities have attempted to replicate the formula developed in Memphis, but ours remains the original and is considered the world championship of kosher BBQ. Join us for an exciting day of competition, great food, camaraderie and fun for the whole family!

Nearly 40 BBQ teams will compete for top honors in the beef brisket, beef ribs, chicken and beans categories. Prizes will also be awarded for creativity in team name and booth design, as well as overall BBQ grand champion. Want to put your grill skills to the test? Register your BBQ team online by Aug. 1 at baronhirsch.org/BBQTeam.

The event will also feature a basketball tournament, kosher pickle eating contest, children’s activities (including a petting zoo, face painting, train rides, bounce house and more) and delicious kosher food for sale from our Cowsher Café.
