I, Medusa is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant retelling that balances accessibility with depth.

What begins as a seemingly straightforward story gradually reveals a much darker emotional landscape. The portrayal of Medusa’s upbringing—marked by neglect, lack of education, and emotional abandonment—serves as a powerful critique of how young people are often left unprotected and uninformed. Her parents’ treatment of her is especially difficult to sit with, not only because of its cruelty, but because it reflects a reality that is all too common. The narrative thoughtfully exposes how naivety, shaped by systemic and familial failure, can leave individuals dangerously susceptible to exploitation.

I, Medusa is irritating me so badly. Read this book if you need a reason to not keep information from your daughters.

Just left this baby uninformed, naive and vulnerable.
