The Band enjoyed the loyal support of Past Union President, Larry Jackson. When the donations were counted Larry matched half that would be paid to the band so the full amount went to MLGW. Ronnie Blanchard upfront, was able to take off from his mail route to make the show.

In 2000 the MLCB began to increase the local community performances. Here is the Band performing for MLGW benefit. It had the tradition of passing the hat for contributions.

From Images of America "African Americans in Memphis". Pg 56. In the 1870's and 1880's, "The known bands love developed the Chickasaw Band, the Young Men’s Band, and the Letter Carrier’s Band, the most outstanding. All of the members were mail carriers with the post office except his wife, Annabelle, who was an expert on the flute and also performed with the group. The Letter Carrier’s Band entertained at every public gathering in Memphis and traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The band is pictured during the 1920’s with John Love kneeling on the left.

The MLCB is one of the oldest operations bands in the US. Formed as a recreational outlet for U. S. Postal workers the national union created bands in most major cities in the late 1800's. Yes, that is right. 1800's. The MLCB originally the Love Orchestra around 1990's. They were in full swing and had gained quite a reputation in the Memphis area. As documented by their performance for the late President Teddy Roosevelt on a visit to Memphis. Documents and photos have chronicled our development and progress thru the decades.
