Two Years of Melodies on Tap
Two years ago, we were asked to build a monthly open mic at Christian’s hometown brewery, Medford Brewing Company. Last month, we celebrated those two years with the community that has continued to grow, week after week and month after month.
Grateful does not begin to describe the feeling we have for the music scene here. To run an open mic for two years, let alone in a suburb with limited public transit options, is often a surefire way to fail. However, our community has supported us and we are forever thankful.
Thank you for showing up in the summer heat, the rain, and the snow. Thank you for being encouraged and empowered to try new material, for showing up to each other’s shows outside of the open mic, and for creating a beautiful support system. It is incredible to see how this scene has expanded and cross pollinated across both our open mic here and at McCarthy’s Toad.
Thank you to Zion for being our fearless host, effortless comedian, and jukebox accompanist. We might be a little biased, but he is arguably the best host in the open mic scene right now.
Thank you to Christian for his background work: communicating, updating all of the signups, websites, and promotion materials, and continuing to support the scene and help rebuild what was lost from the pandemic.
Lastly, thank you to Medford Brewing Company who has allowed for our community to grow month after month!
On behalf of both of us, we are so excited for what is to come. Keep showing up, keep this thing growing, and let’s make Boston the music scene we all want it to be.
