Cover reveal! We’re thrilled to unveil THE BEGINNERS by Heidi Kasa—winner of the Digging Press Chapbook Series Award.

In this stunning collection, poetic intensity meets speculative imagination as Kasa explores what it means to be human when the lines blur between self and machine, love and dependence, memory and ghost. With sharp wit and surprising tenderness, THE BEGINNERS demands we examine not just where we’re going, but who we’re becoming along the way.

“A masterful and exquisite glimpse into being caught in the undertow of humanity while never losing the ability to rise above it.” —Britta Jensen

NEW VIRTUAL SEMINAR
New York City, often dubbed “The City of Promise,” has long been a beacon for immigrants seeking new beginnings, opportunities, and the chance to shape a future for themselves and their families. Through a series of three seminars, led by Gessy Alvarez, Digging Press EIC, we delve into the transformative role immigrants have played in the city, focusing on their personal stories, labor struggles, and community activism. These seminars, inspired by winners of the New York City Book Awards, offer a journey through the narratives that have helped shape the vibrant tapestry of New York City.

Rowan Raskin is a q***r, non-binary artist from Arizona and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (2021). Currently located in Boston, MA, but inspired by their childhood spent exploring the deserts of the unceded Maricopa lands; Raskin mythologizes the Southwestern q***r experience. By combining the aesthetics of the southwest gothic, narratives of found family, perceptions of the body as landscape, and roadkill as an analogy for transgender life, Raskin hopes to create tenderness and love where some might only see horror. Raskin will be showing work in the Fay Chandler Emerging Art show in Boston City Hall Gallery in December and was awarded the 2024 Walter Feldman Fellowship. They are featured in the November/December 2024 issue of Artscope Magazine.
