Peace and Violence - Transforming
A collection that embodies our collective desire for peace and our innate need to drive positive change despite the perpetual turbulence in our lives. These pieces are born from personal growth, with designs that reflect stories of passion, violence, hope, and resilience. The intention is to serve as a reminder of our capacity to love and fight. Some pieces convey messages of the right to resist, the need for destruction, and the calling for dismantling all oppressive systems. Others serve as reminders for learning to sit in our earned tranquility when all we have known is violence. This collection features a mix of natural and faux materials, including bullet casings, animal teeth and bones, natural stones, and crystals.
I'll be sharing one piece daily, starting with the catalyst piece, Mimikwe, which features a 3D beaded butterfly, deer bone, 22 caliber casings, and a turquoise stone center from Zacatecas, Mexico. This particular choker is named after somebody so near and dear to my heart. I am deeply inspired by her sheer willingness to move forward. She has become so brave. I am grateful to witness her use her voice. To speak truth, to apologize, to thank, to love, and to forgive. She grows every day right in front of my eyes, and she is ignorant of her own growth at times. It brings me comfort to know she will bite and crawl and fight to survive because this world will not have it any other way.
