Mason City Pride 2026 was one of the best events I have ever been a part of. The last four years of being the lead organizer and president of our festival have been challenging and amazing. Both filled with love and with learning opportunities. After years of fabulous events in East Park, the aftermath of COVID meant MC Pride 2022 was a small picnic. That was the year RAGBRAI drove through this town and I thought âif we can shut down the whole city for some bikes, the q***r community can have one big day downtownâ. Since then, we have had a huge festival celebrating the LGBTQ community right in the middle of our city that has grown and gotten better every year. I am proud of this community, and of my myself, for everything we have accomplished since 2023. Over the years I have learned so many new skills, and have also learned the importance of taking care of yourself and taking a break.
Because of this, I have decided to step down as president and lead organizer. I am passing the torch to a group of passionate and experienced community organizers who, with their powers combined, will be able to make this event bigger and better than ever before. Please continue to go to these events and support Mason City Pride. Just know that I am no longer involved, but our beloved festival is still in good hands.
Pride is about fighting for our rights, but itâs also about having a day to celebrate and have fun and feel love and acceptance all around you. LGBTQ+ people deserve to be out and proud in Mason City. Thank you for everyone who has been a part of Pride in anyway, I could not have done this without you. Thank you for everything, I love you!!
