At 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, members of our community came together to read the words that helped shape a nation.

As part of Legacy of Liberty, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud in its entirety, offering a chance to hear and reflect on the ideas that inspired the founding of the United States 250 years ago.

Thank you to our readers:

Whether you joined us in person or are watching for the first time, we invite you to take a few moments to listen to these historic words and consider what they meant in 1776 and what they mean to us today.

Where better to conclude a celebration of 250 years of American history than with one of Kentucky’s most influential statesmen?

Join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Fohs Hall for Henry Clay: Divided We Stand, presented by the Community Arts Foundation and portrayed by Kevin Hardesty.

In many ways, this Chautauqua performance is where Legacy of Liberty began. Long before the cannons, encampments, exhibits, and activities, the idea for this community-wide celebration grew from a desire to bring history to life through programs like this one.

Step back into the 19th century and come face-to-face with Henry Clay as he reflects on the challenges, successes, and compromises that helped shape a young nation.

Saturday, June 27 • 7:00 p.m.
Fohs Hall • Marion, Kentucky
Free Admission

Come help us close out Legacy of Liberty by returning to the story that helped inspire it all. 🇺🇸
