Remember the “Misfit” song from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? “Why am I such a misfit, how come I never did fit!”

When I do something different, that board becomes ours. The small mistakes you see would be corrected if I offered the board to someone else. Each of our boards are misfits in some way.

The charcuterie board with the live edge had a round k**b with a hanger hole. I dropped it. It broke off. Got sanded into an “unusual” handle.

With mad hope, misfits fit in here.

Just added a nice new press / punch machine! I just do not do enough leather working to justify a fine $1200 stitching machine.
For me it is punching stitching holes with mallet and hole punch is my bane. It is very time consuming. Actually pulling the stitches by hand is enjoyable.
This one was chosen because our current tools will fit. Things like setting snaps and rivets. Our current tools fit.
The second photo is the tool it replaces. The mallet is still a go to tool in the wood shop. Last pic is a die used to punch a key chain. It will be my training tool.
There is a town celebration coming up. They would like to have demonstrations of time honored skills. I think I might participate if I am ancient enough!

The kindred of faith.
When I am slicing up those chicken breast to fry Papaw nugs. Baking those potatoes and cutting them in half. I think about Jesus and the fish. I am in no way Christ like. But I do feel it in my chest. The kindred, I mean. In life we are charged to make it go. Faith helps me to make it go.

Let’s talk just a second about the Mad Hope guarantee(s).

1. If someone chucks a 12 inch cast iron skillet your way, our cutting boards are the only thing in your kitchen that WILL stop it!
2. There are many things that will ruin a good cutting board. Dishwashers are the enemy. It WILL warp. A board left on top of a hot stove? Glue (even the best) break down. It WILL scorch, crack and warp.
If our cutting board fails you within six months from my workmanship, I would like to buy it back plus 10% so I can identify the failure, so I don’t make that mistake again.

Pricing? I charge only what I would pay for it. Not what my ego wants.
