We all have that memory in our head of growing up and syncing it with a song from Dolly Parton. Mine was my mamaw. She would wake up early to see my pap off to the coal mines. You could smell maxwell coffee brewing in the big 12 cup coffee maker. Fried taters. Eggs. Bacon. Whatever she had on hand. And in the background coming through one of those under the cabinet radios with a tape deck in it, was Dolly Parton. She would play both sides of the cassette over and over. Now, my mamaw couldn't sing worth a lick. But one thing is for sure is that Dolly brought her joy. Just like she brought joy to kids, forgotten g**s, le****ns, trans folks, the drug addicts and the lost folks. She never judged. She believed that was not her job. Not a single person can say a bad thing about her in this world. She brought joy wherever she went. No matter your skin color, sexual orientation or political affiliation.
She just.....loved. i believe the world is a lot less bright due to her passing. My heart has hurt all day over it. Now idk her personally. But I do know the memories she helped create that was my safe space in my own mind.
I don't believe in heaven but she did and I believe that is exactly where she is because she deserved to be there.
So if you are struggling a bit like I am, drop a memory. Tell me about how she touched your heart cuz I know she has always touched mine.
I will always love you, Dolly.
