🎼 Composer Spotlight: Aaron Copland

Our November 1st program also features Aaron Copland's "Variations on a Shaker Melody" — a piece Copland himself composed and transcribed for concert band. It draws on the very same Shaker hymn tune that inspired his celebrated ballet "Appalachian Spring." A beautiful, meditative work you won't want to miss.

🎼 Composer Spotlight: Leonard Bernstein

Join us November 1st for two beloved works by one of America's most celebrated composers, Leonard Bernstein! We'll open with the exuberant "Overture to Candide," and later perform music from "On the Waterfront" — Bernstein's only film score, and an Academy Award nominee. It's a rare chance to hear these two very different sides of Bernstein's genius on the same program.
