Two things I learned this year:
1. Cuteness is my survival mechanism
2. Sexiness is one of my dark shadows

Explained, as a child I observed that I got my way (and got out of the way of perceived threats) when I behaved well and looked cute doing it. Fast forward all these years, and I still use a baby voice and bat my big brown eyes to voice my needs to my partner, and do everything I’m asked to do in work relationships.

I also learned along the way, that embodying any sort of sexiness outside of my relationship with my partner will get me unwanted attention from other men and negative accusations from women. So I’ve repressed this part of me, which has caused a whole lot of shame and guilt throughout my young adult life, even naming it here on a platform that I share with relatives and strangers. To even use the word “sexy” seems inappropriate.

I laugh that it took me all these years to discover this about my Self, and I share this here as inspiration for introspection.
