I don’t celebrate Columbus Day. I celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day. ✊🏾

America’s beauty has never been in our sameness, but in our differences. Every culture, every heritage, every story adds another thread to the extraordinary fabric of who we are.

And while this administration works to divide us, erase our histories, and diminish our diversity, I choose to celebrate the people who make this country what it is.

We are not a nation of one story. We never were. And we were never lost.

Heading down to the meet the artist reception for the Unity and Diversity collaborative exhibition at the African American Heritage Museum of Southern NJ this afternoon.

These pics are some of the work I submitted. They are from my Queens collection of tribal watercolor silhouettes.

This work is all about community, family, collaborating, and creating the world together, that we actually want to live in.

I love using deeply saturated colors, especially when I work with watercolors. Watercolor pigments are naturally translucent and graceful. And I fully enjoy those qualities. It is why watercolor is my favorite medium to work with.

But in these troubling times, when the world feels upside down, I decided to change the “narrative” on how I used watercolors for this collection. Even in the most graceful of medium can express the hard boundary around autonomy and finding joy.

If color represents the mood, and saturation represents the strength required to be visible, what do these paintings say about 2026? What do these things mean to you? And how would you translate your hopes and dreams into a visual language that is truthful and aligned?

FOUR DOWN. ONE TO GO! 🎨🔥

Meet Cori Bush. Activist. Former congresswoman. Unapologetic advocate for her community.

Portrait 4 of 5 in my GB5 Collection is officially complete! What started with an ugly, racist insult has become something so much bigger. Five women. Five stories. Five portraits celebrating women who refuse to be silenced.

One more woman to go. Do you know who’s next? 👀

Follow along as Portrait Stories continues to grow.

A little support can go a really LONG way. ❤️

I’m an independent artist creating original art, one story at a time. And sometimes the difference between a painting sitting in my studio and finding its forever home is just getting it in front of the right person.

So I’m asking for a little favor:

If this painting made you smile, please copy the link! Better yet, send it to someone who would love it.

Maybe you’ll introduce someone to a painting that brightens their day too.

And maybe that little share will turn into a sale that helps a living artist keep creating.

That’s the magic of sharing art. 🎨❤️

Tap the share arrow, copy the link, or send this to your art-loving friend! 😉❤️

It started as practice. Somewhere along the way, it became Portrait Stories.

100 portraits. 100 stories. One collection built one face at a time.

We’re at #12 — Ilhan Omar — and she’s still in progress.

Which means there are 88 stories still waiting to be painted.

If you’re just finding this series, you’re early.
Follow along. I’d love for you to meet them as I do. 🎨
