We had another fantastic time last night at our 9th Annual Labor Day at the Drive-In event! We had some more classic cars in attendance as well as people from all over the region. We had visitors from Ishpeming, Iron Mountain, Sault Ste. Marie and everywhere in between. Lots of happy people enjoying a night out at the UP’s only drive-in theater. The folks at Lake Effect Community Arts had a great night in the concession thanks to everyone’s generosity. We were delighted to see some of you purchase so much food there was a real question if you could haul it all back to the car in one trip!!! We would like to thank the evening’s sponsor, Wheaty’s Pub. Nick has been a longstanding supporter of the drive-in, and we greatly appreciate him! We would also like to thank Girl Scout Troop 5088 for setting up games and a table of fun activities for the kids. Our Labor Day events are always a little bittersweet. They signify the gateway to our fan-favorite Fright Night event; however, they also deliver the beginning of the end of the season. We have one more event in our 2026 season and that is Fright Night. Start making plans now to see us on Saturday, October 24th for Trunk-or-Treat, followed by screenings of Coraline and Saw.

We were blown away during last night’s special showing of the classic film, American Graffiti. If we were forced to sum up the entire event in a word, it would be happiness. People were happy to be at the UP’s last surviving drive-in movie theater, people were happy to support the drive-in through countless donations, and we were happy all of YOU were happy. This is what the drive-in experience is all about. We imagine last night was as close as we’ll ever get to the time when this drive-in was newly opened in 1953. There were cool cars, 50’s and early 60’s music, and joy as far as the eye could see! We would like to thank the event sponsor Larson’s Automotive for making this great event possible. We would also like to thank our volunteers in the concession stand (Janet, Charlotte, and Amy) and Edie for walking the field and taking most of the fantastic pictures you see here! Finally, we would like to thank everyone who came out to enjoy this slice of Americana with us. We had people from all over the Midwest. We had visitors from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Fremont, Michigan, and even as far away as Wahpeton, North Dakota! We checked the map, Wahpeton is nearly 10 hours away from the The Highway 2 Community Drive In Theater!!! We hope to see all of you tonight at our 9th Annual Labor Day at the Drive-In event where we have a special 80’s double feature with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Breakfast Club.

We're less than a week away from our American Graffiti at the Drive-In event! Join us after the Manistique Merchant’s Car Show cruise Friday night for a FREE screening of one of the top 100 movies of all time, American Graffiti, sponsored by the good folks at Larson’s Automotive !!! We look forward to seeing a lot of great, classic cars at a great, classic movie at a great, classic drive in theater!
