In Bangladesh, a rare albino buffalo became famous just before Eid al-Adha on May 28, 2026. The animal was a four-year-old bull weighing about 700 kg. It had a light cream-white body and a pink nose, which made it look very different from normal buffaloes.
The buffalo was nicknamed “Donald Trump” by the owner’s brother because the hair on its head looked a bit like the hairstyle of the former US president. This funny name helped it get even more attention online.
Farm owner Zia Uddin Mridha had sold the buffalo to a buyer for sacrifice during Eid. But before the sacrifice could happen, videos of the animal spread quickly on social media. Many people became curious and started visiting the farm in Narayanganj, near Dhaka, to see it.
Soon, large crowds gathered, and the situation became difficult to control. Just hours before the planned sacrifice, Bangladesh’s Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed stepped in. He ordered the buffalo to be saved because it was very rare and the crowd had become a safety concern.
The buyer was offered a refund or another animal instead. Instead of being sacrificed, the buffalo was sent to the Bangladesh National Zoo. Special care and shelter were arranged for it.
Now, the rare buffalo lives safely in the zoo, cared for and protected. It became an unexpected internet sensation and attracted attention from people across the country.
