A little at a time as my body will allow but it’s going well still. These platters make me glow and I have to say my first dip in the poll with my Tortuga • Pottery Tools has been a breath of fresh air! I am planning to try them at several stages. I once did sgraffito but the desert made that so much harder and I gave it up many years ago…more than a decade! But I loved it and is plenty humid for sgraffito to be accomplished with less risk to the work lemme tell you. This morning I threw a small amount off the hump to help posture since ortho think I have a cervical injury but until I know for sure …anyway! I made two larger rice bowl forms and two bowls with rolled rims because I personally need more pottery after years of neglecting my own cabinets. These rolled rims I learned from Simon Leach back back back when I was still breastfeeding my second and those bowls I made then are still around and so I am making myself more.

It has been so long since I last picked up a brush that stepping back into it feels like entering completely unknown territory. Yet, the moment the clay is in my hands and the paint touches the surface, it instantly clicks—comforting and familiar, like a well-worn pair of favorite pants.Even after a long workday that left me accidentally falling asleep sitting up, I knew I couldn’t keep putting my passion on the back burner. I woke up and chose to do just one small thing. Progression happens in those tiny, daily choices. My home studio setup is still in limbo while I wait for electrical updates, but I refuse to let that stall my momentum. This past week, I reached out to a local studio about firing my pieces there. There are so many unknowns right now, and I don’t entirely know where this path is leading. But between the painting and the throwing, I am finally creating again—and it feels so good to be back.

Studio Update: The Gallery Holdbacks! 🤫🏺Getting this studio back on its feet over the last six months has been a total marathon. Losing my workspace for half a year has been financially brutal, and honestly, the biggest hit was felt by me and my kids. But we are officially so close to home plate! 🙌To help us cross that final finish line, I’m offering up some of my absolute most cherished mugs. These are the last few pieces I held back for upcoming shows after shipping the majority of my work out to my galleries! Because I’m so far behind on the studio setup, I’m opening them up to you directly. The Scene: These final mugs are literally sitting on the section of the kiln currently torn down for repairs. Art meets the construction zone! 🛠️🎨Truly One-of-a-Kind: No duplicates exist. These are the absolute last of my hand-illustrated character mugs.Coming Next: If you miss out on a mug, keep your eyes peeled! I’ve also got a small collection of whimsical planters and my signature glazed polka dot pots in vibrant red and turquoise dropping very soon. 🔴💧The Impact: Your purchase directly supports my family and helps me get this space fully up and running again.I won’t be listing these online, so just send me a DM for details if one catches your eye! Shipping is already included in the price, and I can take payment smoothly through PayPal or CashApp. Every single order means the world to us right now. 💙
