Junction City Expo

Many residents braved the 104-degree weather to spend time together at the JC Expo.

This annual event put on by the Junction City Chamber of Commerce showcases local businesses, food trucks, non-profits, and artists. The Junction City High School Blue Jay band and cheerleaders performed an entire program of classic marching band favorites and arrangements of pop and rock classics.

Although a smaller turnout than years prior, everyone who attended had a great time.

Local newspaper asks for the public’s opinion on providing opinion pieces to the public. If you inherited a print newspaper in 2026 what would you change?

The Mercury has published local news since 1884. For just as long, we've provided a forum for the sharing of opinions on our opinion page. That includes letters to the editor from many of you, opinion columns from other publications, cartoons, and an opinion column or editorial written by a member of The Mercury staff.

Opinions seem to be divided about whether providing opinion pieces on the opinion page is still a worthwhile service for a newspaper to provide.
