Sacred Music @ All Saints Concert Series
Founded in 2013, the Sacred Music at All Saints Concert Series brings quality musicians and performers to the Manassas community. The Church has always been a supporter of the arts; for the arts help to transform the ordinary and point our minds to the heavenly Artist. As St. John Paul II in his Letter to Artists (1999) said
The Church also needs musicians. How many sacred works have been composed through the centuries by people deeply imbued with the sense of the mystery! The faith of countless believers has been nourished by melodies flowing from the hearts of other believers, either introduced into the liturgy or used as an aid to dignified worship. In song, faith is experienced as vibrant joy, love, and confident expectation of the saving intervention of God.
Musicians from the greater DC Metropolitan area, and from across the country, have been featured in these five seasons of concerts, including The Westminster Concert Bell Choir of Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ) and Dr. Peter Latona, Director of Music at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Washington, DC). The variety of performances showcase various instruments, styles, and genres. These free concerts draw in people from our Manassas community, Catholics or non-Catholics, all are welcome.
