I almost let some leather pants ruin this… 🥂
Yesterday, I tried on a pair of leather pants that were supposed to look fabulous. You know the kind. The ones that look amazing on everyone else?
Well, on me? Let’s just say sausage casing comes to mind. 😂
I walked out of that dressing room feeling deflated. And honestly, a little annoyed that a pair of pants had managed to steal some of the joy from a day I was so looking forward to.
Because last night wasn’t about the pants.
It was about celebrating SIX years of marriage to my favorite person. 🤍
So I ditched the leather pants and chose a pair of beautiful, soft scuba knit pants and a silk top. Still polished. Still dressed for a special evening. But comfortable, confident, and feeling like ME.
And you know what? I didn’t give those leather pants another thought. ( Well, maybe a couple, he he.)
We had the loveliest anniversary dinner at The Blue Door: incredible food, w**e, dessert, and plenty to celebrate. Then home for a little bourbon, our monogrammed napkins, and the simple pleasure of ending a wonderful evening together.
Six years in, I’m reminded that the best kind of confidence isn’t about wearing what someone else thinks looks good on you.
It’s about knowing yourself well enough to choose what makes you feel wonderful. And reminding myself it was so much more important to celebrate!
And sometimes, that looks like choosing the scuba knit over the leather. 😉
Cheers to six years, my love. And to getting dressed for the life we’re actually enjoying. 🥃🤍
P.S. Those monogrammed cocktail napkins? They’re one of my favorite little touches for making an ordinary evening at home feel special. You can find them in the shop. 🤍
