Hello composer students, friends, and colleagues! An esteemed colleague ask me to share the news about two exciting scholarship offerings from Strayer University. They have opened up a new Master’s Program at Media Design School in Atlanta, GA and they are giving out 20 full-tuition scholarships! The first is the “Scoring to Screen Composer Full-Tuition Scholarship”. The University is located in Atlanta, GA and is run by Andy Hill (Eminem, Celine Dion, Dead Ringers, Cher, etc.).

The second is the “Social Impact & Diversity Scholarship”, designed for BIPOC or POC college and high school graduates interested in a career in music for Advertising (as a composer or a music supervisor or project manager). Founded in 2020, the AMP Social Impact and Culture Committee works to champion diversity and create meaningful opportunities for historically underrepresented talent at the intersection of music and media and has since awarded four scholarships to diverse recipients.

Submission deadline is September 14.

From working with talented artists in amazing studios, to business meetings on boats and beaches, to hosting showcases and speaking at music conferences together, to doing book signings, podcasts, tv shows, and watching countless people react to Fleetwood Mac and Joni Mitchell in Dolby Atmos, it has certainly been a wild ride!

Excited to have music featured in two episodes of Paramount’s “Celebrity Ex On The Beach”. The songs were created for a greatmindssyncalike project — “Rocketship” was written by Ninamarie Bell, Drew Henmi, and Nitanee Paris, and “You’re Gonna Get What’s Coming” was written by Chaz Umamoto, Joshua Stephens, Drew Henmi, and Nitanee Paris.

The team at greatmindssyncalike is happy to learn that our music is featured in 3 episodes of “No More Ink”, the Ink Masters after show hosted by tattoo artist Ryan Ashley. All episodes are streaming on Paramount+ and available on the Ink Masters Yourube Channel. The songs are “Ice Cream Clouds” created with Mark Dorflinger , and “Strut Your Stuff” created with Bryan Crook! GO TEAM!!

New Music Out Now!!! I’m excited to announce the release of Frankly’s first English single, “Little Bit In Love”! The song was written by Frankly, Mark Dorflinger , and Nitanee Paris at Marshmellow Skies. Frankly has performed in many of our ArtistMax showcases at the Hotel Cafe. The music created together with this amazing team during our sessions of endless inspiration, true friendship, and abundant laughter, are some of the best moments in my life.

Exciting night Saturday watching the 2026 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards! Also known as Hawaiʻi’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards, Nā Hōkū Hanohano means “Stars of Distinction.” A BIG congratulations to the beautiful and hard-working Kimie Miner for winning two awards: EP of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year for her EP Kuʻu Hawaiʻi!

I am so grateful to have collaborated with Kimié Miner and Chase Kauhane Kauhane on the song “Where I Belong (I Am A Mountain),” featured on the EP, and I’m especially proud of the lyrics, which were inspired by our shared desire to honor our roots and the wisdom of those who came before us.

CONGRATS to friends Chaz Umamoto, Joshua Stephens, and Imua Garza for their brilliant contributions to the EP!
It was especially wonderful to see Kimie perform the title track on stage with her daughter, what a beautiful and memorable moment.

I’m also so happy for the many colleagues and collaborators who were recognized for their music, including winners Izik, Kala'e Parish and Kalenaku and nominees: Kenneth Makuakane, Lovejack, Henry Kapono, , Sarah Bethany, and everyone else who was honored or celebrated—you all make the world a more beautiful place through your artistry.
