Kathie Rasmussen Women's Theatre is saddened by the passing of one of our most beloved collaborators, Sarah Whelan Blake.
Sarah became involved with KR soon after it's founding in 2008, appearing in our very first production, The Smart Women Project, in 2009. Since then, Sarah has graced our productions as an actress several times, most recently in 2024's 'Overprint' by Jan Levine Thal. She directed 'Rumors of Truth' by Marcia Jablonski in 2016, served on our board for many years, stage managed, lent props, and graciously opened her home as a venue for readings of plays in development. Sarah's talent onstage was matched by her kindness, generosity, and work ethic behind the scenes.
Sarah left an indelible mark on KR Women's Theatre. She was a beautiful presence on stage and off, and a true luminary in our Madison theatre community. We at KR will forever treasure the time we shared with her.
Sarah's family will be holding a celebration of life at the Bartell Theatre on Sunday, August 23rd, from 6:30pm to 10pm. All are invited to attend.
