Just because you can make it fit doesn’t mean it belongs there.

Someone bent the prongs on this 3-prong dryer cord to make it fit a 4-prong receptacle. Dryer cords and receptacles are designed the way they are for a reason, and modifying a plug like this can create a serious electrical and fire hazard.

If the cord doesn’t match the receptacle, install the correct cord and configure the dryer properly. Don’t improvise with 240 volts.

We recently had a discontinued Supco evaporator fan motor fail less than two weeks after installation. We don’t know how old the motor was or how long it had been sitting in inventory, but it gave us a good opportunity to talk about aftermarket parts, old stock, and why we chose to go back with the genuine OEM GE motor.

Not all aftermarket parts are bad, but sometimes saving a few dollars on a part can cost a lot more in the long run.

WASHING MACHINE NIGHTMARE 😬

This GE washer came in with an intermittent problem, but once we got into it, we found a whole lot more going on underneath.

Water where it shouldn't be. Rust. Grease and buildup throughout the machine. A leaking tub. A failing gearcase. This one turned into quite the project!

Heavy grease, oil, chemicals, and other contaminants from work clothes can be extremely hard on a residential washing machine. If your clothes regularly come home heavily contaminated, consider pre-washing or removing as much of that material as possible before putting them in your washer—and don't forget to periodically run a hot cleaning cycle to help remove buildup inside the machine.

Sometimes what goes INTO your washing machine can have a big effect on how long it lasts.

📦 DON’T DO THIS!

We ordered a used lint screen for one of our dryers—and unfortunately, the packaging didn't survive the trip.

Appliance parts can be surprisingly fragile, and good packaging matters! When we ship parts from our eBay store, we take the extra time to package them properly so they have the best chance of arriving in the same condition they left us.

Because the right part isn't much good if it shows up broken. 😂
