Does Permanent Eyeliner Hurt?

This is one of the questions I’m asked most often!

Before we begin, I apply a pre-numbing product for approximately 20 minutes. I also continue using numbing throughout the procedure to help keep you as comfortable as possible.

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so some clients may be more sensitive than others. If sensitivity increases, it typically happens toward the end of the procedure. However, I’ve never had a client who was unable to complete their eyeliner appointment because of discomfort.

To help ensure a more comfortable experience, I recommend:

• Avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment
• Avoiding ibuprofen for 48 hours before your appointment
• Limiting caffeine on the day of your appointment

🚫 Important: Permanent eyeliner is not recommended for clients who are currently being treated for glaucoma. If you have an eye condition or are under the care of an ophthalmologist, medical clearance may be recommended before scheduling.

With a little preparation and plenty of numbing, permanent eyeliner is often much more comfortable than clients expect!
