I feel like I have been led to share this.
Christian friends, please be mindful about who you allow to tattoo your body.
The person tattooing you is entering your personal space, touching your body, and permanently placing something meaningful onto your skin. That deserves wisdom and discernment.
Leviticus 19:28 says, “You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the Lord.” In context, this command was given to ancient Israel and was connected to pagan mourning rituals and markings for the dead. I personally do not believe modern tattooing is automatically a sin, especially because the New Testament does not directly prohibit tattoos.
However, that does not mean every tattoo, every intention, or every environment is spiritually healthy.
Be mindful of the imagery you choose. Be mindful of your motives.
Be mindful of the atmosphere you place yourself in and the person you trust with your body. I have witnessed an artist openly respond with “ew” when talking about a cross tattoo they were scheduled to do. During the appointment, the client became so uncomfortable and overwhelmed in that person’s presence that they began hyperventilating and had to stop the tattoo early.
I am not sharing this to expose, shame, or speak badly about another artist. I am sharing it because tattoos are deeply personal.
Pray for discernment, especially when receiving a tattoo that represents your faith. Not everyone will honor what that symbol means to you, and I believe we should be careful about the attitudes and spiritual influences we willingly place ourselves around.
You absolutely do not have to be a Christian to be tattooed by me. I love and welcome people from every walk of life. Jesus said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” —Mark 12:31. My faith calls me to treat every person who sits in my chair with kindness, dignity, patience, and respect—not judgment.
But if you are a believer in Christ, please know that your faith will be safe with me.
I am not a perfect Christian, but I am a believer who is actively searching for God’s heart. I take Christian values seriously in my work. I respect faith-based tattoos, and I will never mock, belittle, or dishonor someone for wanting to permanently represent their relationship with God.
When you sit in my chair, my goal is for you to feel heard, comfortable, respected, and safe.
Choose an artist who respects what your tattoo means to you—not simply someone capable of putting it on your skin.
