Unoffical Opening!

The Dreams Intertwined tapestry has finally been put together! Can't wait for all of you to see it in person next week! Come check it out at the unofficial opening at First Park Congregational on September 16th at 7pm! If you can't make it on the 16th, then come see it on display through October 3rd!

We're looking for volunteers who can stand next to our Art Prize and Pink Arrow Project at First Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids.

Your role would be to talk about the piece, to hand out business cards, and to assist visitors in writing their own hopes and dreams on t-shirt strips. If you are so inclined, we would love help weaving the finished dreams into more Amish knots. These will be included in the tapestry at a later time.

Thank you to all of the teachers and staff for grabbing the t-shirts for the first day tomorrow! Here is a quick video showing how to cut up the t-shirts. Note: you can use any scissors but fabric scissors work the best! Contact us if you have any questions or concerns!

Your old Pink Arrow t-shirts could be repurposed into an ArtPrize project that is being led by two high school teachers.

Since 2008 the Lowell community has come together to fight breast cancer in a large event called Pink Arrow Pride. Millions of dollars have been raised to support the cause and those suffering in our community by selling t-shirts. We want to bring the community together towards a common goal of understanding one another. We will have planned events in the summer in which community members and students will be asked to share the hopes and dreams they have for their community and themselves. Pink Arrow Pride T-shirts of years past will be cut up in strips, decorated and written on. Community members will be asked to share their hopes and dreams for the community on the t-shirt strips-whether visual, tactile, or written. Community members will gather safely outside to weave these dreams strips into a single rug. The piece is both a final product as well as a time based installation. We will be documenting the process in the form of a video to be viewed along with the finished rug.
