We are very pleased to have helped facilitate this placement for the City of Loveland, and look forward to sharing the installation images.

In mid-June, Trail of Forgiveness by Denny Haskew will be installed at the Police & Courts Building at 810 E. 10th Street. The Visual Arts Commission is grateful for this generous donation to the City of Loveland’s public art collection. This monumental work was inspired by a maquette that the artist created to honor his grandmother. The sculpture is meant to be open to interpretation by the viewer with the hope that it will convey a loving and spiritual message meaningful to all. Trail of Forgiveness is approximately 10 ft x 5 ft by 6 ft.

About Loveland's Art in Public Places Program: In 1985, Loveland made a profound commitment to the arts by becoming the first Colorado city to pass an Art in Public Places Ordinance, which designates one percent of the City’s capital projects (valued at $50,000 or more) for the purchase, display and ongoing maintenance of art. The Loveland Art in Public Places program is part of the larger Cultural Services Department for the City of Loveland.

We are thrilled to see that tours of the foundry are back at Art Castings of Colorado.

this is a great chance to see an over 2,000 year process, one of the few changes we know about is that it’s much safer now than the bronze ages. We hope you’ll take a tour and see why Loveland is such an art mecca that we are proud to be part of!

One reasons I am proud to live here: A foundry tour & a look at where you'll discover sculpture around Loveland, Colorado.

We are in California to reinstall part of our Holocaust memorial “Fortitude”. The figurative sculpture “Freedom”, by Dee Clements has been resculpted, structurally revamped and reinforced on the steps of the memorial. Denny Haskew’s Strength of the Maker was installed in Benson Sculpture Garden by the High Plains Art Council this morning. We are so pleased to have helped facilitate Denny being represented in the collection with this award-winning composition.

Strength of the Maker is a larger-than-life sized bronze of a Native American brave sculpted to represent all humanity, using his strength to test the strength of a bow. One of the limited edition castings of this powerful monument is in the permanent collection of the Native American Museum of the Smithsonian Institution in DC among other notable placements.

Denny is honored to be included in Benson Park, “Loveland has been my home base for decades and is the place that has shaped my artwork most.”

A dedication of the new additions to Benson will be announced for later this Spring.

This collection of over 175 sculptures by world renowned artists has put Loveland on the map as a sculpture mecca and is maintained through proceeds from the annual Sculpture in the Park event which is held on the 2nd weekend of August. Celebrating 40 years this Summer. Visit lovelandpublicart.org/benson-sculpture-garden/ for more info.

Can you guess what this will be??? We're in the cocoon phase on this project.

The components are cut and artist Joe Norman is preparing them for welding (grinding the edges smooth, cleaning the surfaces and giving them texture to help the paint adhere, etc)

We're getting excited to see what emerges soon for its new home in Gladstone, MO. Stay tuned, we'll be installing this sooner than you'd think!

“Forgiveness" is home in Hawaii.

A universal figure representative of a tūtū with outstretched arm draped in colorful leis as an offering to her island in an expression of aloha, compassion, gratitude, and acceptance.

The benevolent gesture of Forgiveness is symbolic of the traditional Hawaiian customs of aloha and ho’okipa, the Native Hawaiian values of hospitality and giving. Native Hawaiians have always believed in selflessly extending themselves to others, whether they had close ties with them or not. Housing this sentiment at the Women’s Community Correctional Center is fitting as a place where women can individually grow and contribute to the greater community. The more one cares for the world, the greater the world will sustain and provide.

May this artwork provide a positive space for the women, workers, and visitors. A place one can sit and reflect, seek guidance, see themselves in her, or someone they love. -Jane DeDecker and the National Sculptors' Guild

RELEASE: Bronze Artworks Stolen from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monument and Joseph Addison Thatcher Memorial Fountain Recovered

*Denver Police Seeking Public’s Help Locating Suspects Involved*

Your Denver Police Department announced today the recovery of the three bronze artworks that were stolen from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a Dream” monument in Denver’s City Park on February 18, 2024. Denver Police have identified one suspect and are requesting assistance from the community in identifying the second suspect and providing DPD information on the whereabouts of both suspects.

On Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Denver Parks and Recreation maintenance staff noticed three bronze pieces were missing from the “I have a Dream” monument, and the theft was reported to DPD. On Friday, February 23, DPD investigators learned those three bronze pieces, along with seven bronze pieces that were stolen from the Joseph Addison Thatcher Memorial fountain in City Park, were all sold as scrap metal to a local business. Investigators recovered the items and returned them to Denver Arts & Venues, which manages both monuments. The large plaque stolen from the “I have a Dream” monument was cut into four pieces prior to it being sold for scrap. The theft of the bronze pieces from the Thatcher Memorial fountain was unknown until the recovery of the items from the scrap metal business.

Through the investigation, it was determined the theft from the “I have a Dream” monument occurred between approximately 3:30 AM and 5:30 AM on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The date and time of the thefts from the Thatcher Memorial fountain have not yet been confirmed. Additionally, 67-year-old Herman Duran has been identified as one of the suspects in the theft. Denver Police are working to identify the second suspect and are seeking the community’s help in locating both individuals. Please see the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers bulletin.

Because the stolen pieces from the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a Dream” monument and Joseph Addison Thatcher Memorial fountain were sold as scrap metal, the incident does not appear at this time to be bias-motivated. However, investigators’ final findings will be presented to the Denver District Attorney’s Office, which determines charges.
