As an LGBTQ+ individual and advocate I wanted to express in a way that will raise awareness and funds in a greater way than I could singularly, so I created Pride Plains; a series of abstract landscapes infused with pride. Each painting is uniquely painted by me using a combination of pride flag colors and open spaces as inspiration. I feel it is important to use grand expanses of land as a symbol of an uninhibited space for our pride to live in. Proceeds go to The Trevor Project.
What is The Trevor Project?
The Trevor Project is the world’s largest su***de prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender, q***r, and questioning) young people. The organization works to save young lives by providing support through free and confidential su***de prevention and crisis intervention programs on platforms where young people spend their time: a 24/7 phone lifeline, chat, text and soon-to-come integrations with social media platforms. The organization also runs TrevorSpace, the world’s largest safe space social networking site for LGBTQ youth, and operates innovative education, research, and advocacy programs.

These are part of my Remembering Plains series, my most extensive series to date. I love painting these. While painted as small works, the imagery gives a sense of grandeur that one feels looking over vast open spaces. It is not a literal translation of place, rather a filtering of my experiences, a memory of sky and land, a space for color to be bold.

We just delivered “Beyond” to its new home. It looks phenomenal, just as envisioned. And the cat, Sid, has inspected and approved.

Pictured here are some of my landscapes with Denny Haskew’s suspended dancers in the gallery’s atrium. It’s kind of nice to look up into the skyscapes in particular. With the horizon lines grounding on the right.
Denny’s Dance Within, Wear Only Sky has always been a favorite of mine. He displays these figures two ways, both effectively inspire grace and movement.

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Respect for Marriage Act (H.R. 8404) by a bipartisan vote of 267-157. This historic vote will provide security and peace of mind for people nationwide.
This is fantastic news from Congress, I hope the Senate follows suit.
Yay!
The Democratic-controlled chamber sent the bill to the Senate where its prospects are uncertain as it'll require at least 10 Republican votes to pass.
