With the last TinyDesks for Tots distributed at the House of Neighborly Service Back to School fair last week, the LCS Community Outreach TinyDesks project is complete!
The TinyDesks project started during Covid as a way to help elementary students doing remote learning by providing them with their own space separate from their dinner table or sofa to do their schoolwork and projects.
The desks were designed, built and packaged by volunteers at the CreatorSpace, and delivered unfinished to allow kids to personalize them with their choice of paint/drawings/stickers.
Thank you to:
Thompson Valley Rotary for the grant that allowed LCS to purchase the materials to make 80 desks
The Home Depot for delivering the materials at a discounted rate
House of Neighborly Service, Loveland Public Library, Family Center of Larimer County, and Thompson Valley Preschool for helping with distribution
LCS members Bill, Ron, Rick, Brian and Christian for their hands-on help, and the LCS Board for encouragement and support.

Great workday on Saturday with eight folks getting a lot of things done. Thanks to Alan, Rick, Luke, Billy, John, Brian, Kyson and Richard for making the day a success. Our facility is looking better and better with new lights, lots of unused materials recycled and projects completed.
Special call out to Alan who joined us for the first time and varnished all day.
The woodshop looks good, and the metals shop shows great promise under the leadership of John.

All, We spent a half day in the Machine Shop yesterday. Bill worked on the Lathe while Luke and I did some general housekeeping. Please see the attached pictures. I would like to urge everyone using the Machine Shop to pay attention to cleanliness and organization...its not that difficult to put things back where they came from and clean up after yourself (and after someone else possibly). We still have more work to do but this is a start.
While you still might be digging out from last week's snowstorm, the first day of spring is tomorrow! Along with the change of seasons, I have a whole list of fun, springy activities for you this week.

Kind of wish I could be at the space to watch this. I am now wondering if this will effect the data I collected to recognize trains passing in front of the CreatorSpace. I am hoping that they will extend the parking lot.

Love seeing such a welcoming community of creators! I love how you guys focus on providing tools not just for the arts but for programming and electronics! The whole tech-based experience reminds me of a sci-fi thriller I’ve recently watched called Empathy, Inc. Following the story of Joel, a failed venture capitalist, this film focuses on his attempts to remain grounded in a fast-paced VR startup. I really enjoyed this film's focus on the entrepreneurial aspect of VR as well as the dangers of immersive technology. As someone who loves to work with the creative aspects of tech, I really enjoyed this film. I highly suggest checking it out!
