Today we unveiled our 70th anniversary poster, marking a milestone year for St. James Court Art Show.

The 70th Annual St. James Court Art Show poster is steeped in history, featuring elements that pay tribute to the show’s origins and its lasting legacy. Artist Mark Bird revisits the line drawing he created for the inaugural 1981 poster, which he produced with C.M. “Sonny” Whittle, while also incorporating a painting of the historic Cawein House at 1436 St. James Court. The home was renovated by St. James Court Art Show founder Malcolm Bird, Bob Smith and Jim Perry and represents an important chapter in Louisville’s historic preservation movement.

Bird, who first participated in the St. James Court Art Show at age nine, says the show has been integral to his artistic career and expresses his gratitude for the opportunities and lifelong connections the Louisville tradition has provided.

A very limited number of complimentary 70th Anniversary posters will be available at the St. James Court Art Show Info Booth at 6th & Magnolia during the art show. Just show proof of purchase from one of this year’s artists to claim your complimentary poster, while supplies last! For an extra special touch, artist Mark Bird, will also be at the booth during select times throughout the art show to sign posters.
