Please join the Hounds in supporting The Dona O'Sullivan Fund to Fight Homelessness annual benefit. For over a decade the Fund has supported important professional development opportunities for social workers who work on the front lines assisting our most vulnerable neighbors.

And for over a decade Flanagans Ale House has joined in this effort by hosting this benefit. Your contribution is simple and painless: Just drop by Flanagan’s on Monday Sept. 15 and place an order. That’s all there is to it. Flanagan’s will do the rest — though you are welcome to contribute directly to the Fund as well, if you so wish!

There will be music from the Hounds in the evening, and Marty (at least) will play from 11-2 during the day. (All ages. And pets are welcome on the Flanagan’s patio.)

Yes, Hound of the Buskervilles is returning to Fiesta Mexicana Bardstown Rd … in spite of what happened last time!

Don’t ask what happened last time because I don’t remember either, but it’s on my calendar, so I must have been there, and something probably happened because something almost always does…

Anyway, the food and service are very fine. See my old review in the comments: I believe it is still valid, though outdated in some details — e.g., prices, of course.

We’ll sprinkle in quite a few new songs among the ones you (and we) have forgotten since the last time you heard us. So on balance we’ll all be hearing with fresh ears — which are way better than stale ears! 6-9 pm. SATURDAY August 30, 4507 Bardstown Rd. — Regards, Marty

Through the generous support of Flanagans Ale House, the fundraiser for the The Dona O'Sullivan Fund to Fight Homelessness has been an annual fixture on the Hound’s fall schedule for more than a decade — even during the pandemic (we played outdoors).

We’ll be on the patio again this year. It’s an all-day fundraiser. All you need do is drop in, eat, and drink.

Bring a pet, if you like. Flanagan’s is famously pet-friendly, to the point of having a special menu for visiting dogs. Flanagan’s will pass your contribution along to the Fund.

We’ll supply live music (which is an upgrade from the other kind). The full band will play from 6-9; and Marty (at least) will be playing and singing on the deck from circa 11 until early afternoon.

Even after the Rapture, there will be music! Once your eyes recover from Monday’s events, join Hound of the Buskervilles Wednesday on the Flanagans Ale House Patio* for music by twilight under the stars.

A stormy Wednesday finds the Hounds celebrating Leap Day Eve in The Red Room at Flanagans Ale House, 6-9.

If you’re in training for St. Patrick’s Day, Flanagan’s is a fine, hospitable Irish pub. The Red Room is a happy place. The menu is satisfying and the bar is full.

As for the Buskers? We play songs.

Thanks to astronomy — and Julius Caesar — every four years, including this one, we celebrate a bissextile year (except where prohibited by law!). This “Leap Year”offers salaried workers a rare chance to “give back” to their employers by working an extra day for the same pay.
