🔈🎨 We’re continuing our work on the 2026 Take Action LA events series with a second day of workshops facilitated by Gayle Nicholls.

Stop by THIS THURSDAY MAY 14 from 6-9pm at the Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena. These gatherings offer a welcoming space for fire-impacted residents from Altadena to come together, share stories, make art, and enjoy a meal in community with one another.

Mental health is shaped by the communities we build, the stories we share, and the care we give one another. 💚

This month, we reflect on the many ways in which theater can be a gathering place: somewhere to feel seen, heard, and reminded that none of us are alone.

In honor of this week:
Over the years, we’ve had the honor of collaborating with incredible dance artists and organizations, including Ana Maria Álvarez in our 2025 production of Direct Address.

Drawing from Langston Hughes’ I Dream America, the piece was reimagined as a bilingual musical score, then transformed again through the lens of present-day border crossings.

20 dancers, ages 9 to 72, filled the Ford stage, moving with radical love, collective memory, and boundless vision.

Happy !

In 2023, WICOUN took the stage as a powerful reflection of identity, resilience, and what it truly means to be seen. Rooted in community collaboration, the production reimagined the idea of a “hero”, not as one person, but as a collective force.

Revisit the journey of creating WICOUN with American Theatre’s series “Superheroes on Native Land”, a three-part series.

Happy 📚✨
Stories shape us, but access to them shapes EVERYONE.

Today is a reminder that your local library is more than shelves of books, it’s a free, welcoming space for learning, imagination, and community. A place where anyone can discover something new, no matter their background.

If you’re celebrating today, try:
📖 checking out a book instead of buying one
🏛️ signing up for a library card
💻 exploring free digital resources (audiobooks, ebooks, classes)
🤝 supporting library programs in your community

Because when we support our libraries, we support access, equity, and the next generation of readers.

Open a book. Step into your library. Pass it on 💫

isn’t just today it’s a mindset 🌎✨
Caring for the planet doesn’t have to be one big moment. It’s the small choices we make every day that add up!

This Earth Day, consider it an invitation, not a checkbox to start where you stand, do what you can, and keep going tomorrow.

Urban Rez premiered this week in April 2016 💫

Written by Larissa FastHorse and directed by Michael John Garcés, this immersive production invited audiences into a world where identity, belonging, and survival collided.

Part of Cornerstone’s Hunger Cycle, and described as “engaging and informative” by the Los Angeles Times, the play explored what happens when opportunity, and its consequences, enter a community.

Developed in deep collaboration, Urban Rez was shaped by three years of listening to stories shared by Indigenous people from and in the Los Angeles Basin
