Alarm Clock Challenge. What’s this you ask? I’ll tell you. I’m challenging myself and any/everyone who can relate to this to partake in using a regular alarm clock as the device that wakes you up in the morning. I don’t mean the alarm clock on your phone. In fact, the whole purpose of this challenge is to help us all detach more from the madness of our phones. I’m talking about using a good old fashioned regular alarm clock. It can be an analog alarm clock or a digital alarm clock, but it can’t be your phone, computer, iPad, or watch. The whole point to this challenge is to get back to basics and present moment awareness. How often do we all wake up and the first thing we do is pick up our phone (which is usually either right beside the bed or directly on the bed) and check to see our texts, emails, and social media. It’s way to often and common than is mentally, physically, and spiritually healthy for us. My plan is to have a charging station in my kitchen where I put all my devices (and my kids devices) at night before bedtime. Included in this plan is to have a time where I tune out from my phone/all screens every night. Maybe sometime after dinner. Nothing bad and only good can come from this. More interpersonal connections, more present moment awareness, more peace, more reading of real books, more true connections with our loved ones. Let’s do this!!! At least try. Repost and invite others to let go of their phones/screens and embrace some real living. Make sure you put the hashtag on any related post. xo
