What world is this!? I wake up in the morning, walk my dog, and then spend my time helping artists like get their music into the ears of the masses. Morgan’s win for writing “Casual” with Chappell Roan was so well deserved. What a humble, creative, determined, and passionate writer and human Morgan is! I’m proud to be a part of her journey. This BMI event, with , , and Tim Pattison, was so special and so well done.

What can you do right now as an artist who relies on social media?


1️⃣ Make a statement.
Art is about resistance. Apple, HP, Caterpillar, and the other companies that have donated to Trump are not shrinking back. Neither should we. Make a statement—whatever you’re comfortable with—post it and pin it.


2️⃣ Say their names.
At the beginning of your post, just say one of their names or put it on screen and then go right into your post. Like I did here, start with their names.


3️⃣ Use fashion as a statement.
If you’re in music and running around for Grammy events, make a statement through what you wear. I’m printing shirts with their names. If you need one, let me know—I’ll help you find one.
