A to 2018 when we performed with the at a school in Venice, CA!

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day! We acknowledge our Native American relatives, the whose lands our kapa haka group is based on in Los Angeles, CA and all of our Indigenous siblings here on Turtle Island! 🐢

As Māori, we stand with our Native American kin today and every day, honouring their strength, sovereignty, and enduring connection to the land.

We started our LA-based kapa haka group, Ngā Ānahera Māori, back in 2018 with 4 group members; Keri, Marek, Amelia and Nico. Since then our group’s name has changed to and we have expanded to 10 members which includes two tamariki!

We are the only kapa haka group in the SoCal area and one of the very few kapa haka groups in the US! We are so proud to represent for Aotearoa and for our culture here on Turtle Island.

We are so excited to be performing this Friday, June 13th at the City of Santa Clarita Government New Zealand celebration! We are honored to represent our country and culture at this free city event!

As well as performances by Ngāti Ānahera we also have a Māori language and poi making booth run by our awesome Learn Māori Abroad students! Hono mai e te whānau! We look forward to seeing you there! 😄
