Her soulful musicality and philosophical bent can be attributed to the rich, spiritual lineage of rabbis and cantors in her family dating back several generations. Singing since age three and songwriting since 8, Nadia grew up performing at Sinai Temple with her father, operatic cantor and orchestral composer Meir Finkelstein. At 10, she began recording religious albums with him in professional st
udios. She attended Hamilton High School Academy of Music focusing on vocal jazz and studied classical voice and jazz improvisation at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Nadia fronted jazz trios in Los Angeles and lent her vocals to Radio Disney's Pop Dreamers as well as to numerous national commercials for Dove Soap, McDonalds, JCPenney, Kohls, Ubisoft, etc. As a songwriter, she began licensing her indie pop/rock songs for television and film from two projects: www.nadiafay.com and www.girlsloveshoesband.com, eventually launching her own independent record label www.hotgeekrecords.com. She is fortunate to have hundreds of IMDb credits for song placements in CSI:NY, Pretty Little Liars, Shameless, America's Next Top Model, Melrose Place, Awkward, The Emoji Movie, Picture This!, Special Delivery, Nights in Rodanthe, Byzantium etc. as well as in numerous national commercials, i.e. Buick, Pantene, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Loews, Foxtel, Toyota, etc. As a model, Nadia was signed to Otto Modeling Agency, appearing in print ads and music videos for other musical artists. Years later, she started her own photography business to work passionately on the other side of the camera, shooting actors, bands and models. After taking thousands of photos on an awe inspiring trip to Kauai, a love of photography grew into the creation of collections of fine art photos that feature nature and abstract images. She continues to shoot in preparation for the launch of her exciting, new photography collections. In addition to songwriting, Nadia is a prolific poet. Influenced by the famous poet Shel Silverstein, she has an obvious love of rhyme, meter, cleverness and irony. Nadia approaches deep subjects with humor and innocence. She currently has multiple books of poetry in the works. As a self/taught, multi-instrumentalist and diverse music producer, Nadia continues to write and record in her Los Angeles studio. With a deep love of words, colors, shapes and sounds, she hopes to encourage creative expression in others while continuously expanding her own creative skills. Nadia Fay is proud to dedicate her life to the arts.
