Often, i found myself not living in my accomplishments. This year taught me to live in my special moments more, whether deemed big or small. I sit sometimes, remembering things that little girl wanted, & I’ve accomplished more than she ever imagined. The little girl in me, as well as adult lia, had a ton of healing to do. Hidden well, but i struggled w/self esteem issues growing up, self consciousness, abandonment, & lack of self love - that hindered me from shining in ways i knew possible. I’m grateful to say I’ve done the work & overcome some of those insecurities, which has allowed me to feel less heavy & brighter than i ever have. Still healing, still growing. The both of us are proud of who we’ve become, & impacts we’ve made on the way. This year was fruitful. I made it into my first physical issue of VOGUE w/Grace Coddington, first adidas campaign, won an Oscar, & even started my acting classes, to name a few. Evolving from being the basketball player that my family believed to be my only calling, to now making my city & those who believe in me proud in more ways than one, makes little Lias heart smile. I thank those who take the time to share pure intimacy & really SEE me, those who hit my DM saying they appreciate my work/see themselves in me/or feel I’ve been a face for those who are an acquired taste - not your traditional face. Immensely grateful to those who paved ways, & who are still breaking barriers w/me. Knowing that i haven’t reached my peak, I’ve learned to appreciate where i am, & trust that it’s always where I’m supposed to be. I’m ready for what’s to come. Excited to share more of me w/the world. Little Lia want Yal to know that 2020, s**t gon be rowdy. More joy, more fearlessness. More being present. Less talking, more action. Sh*ts louder that way. & she still gonna be gettin her bark on. Its always a Big Momma thang. Love you 🌻💋.
