“And with the special participation of Anton LaVey, High Priest of the Church of Satan!” Lordy, what a get! What was that contract like? Y’all - THE DEVIL’S RAIN (1975) is comedy gold! From the endless shots of wax faces melting off-“Absolutely the most incredible, unforgettable ending of a motion picture EVER!”- I’ll beg to differ; William Shatner Shatting it up all over the desert, a young John Travolta being all Devil-ly, Ida Lupino in another fright wig, poor Tom Skerrit somehow involved, Eddie Albert sleep-walking thru it, and the most Ernest of Borgnines (more like BorgTENS, hunny) as a Satanic Cult leader in a completely different movie than everyone else, and at times in a Lucifer make-up that looks like if Carol Channing had a baby with a giant mountain ram. ok y’all BRIGADOON at the is absolutely joyous & sublime. The talent in all departments is top-notch & I highly recommend you see it ASAP. It’s one of those that you might be like “Hmmm BRIGADOON…? Isn’t that one a bit problematic etc…?” But NO: this new adaptation by Alexandra Silber “honors the classic while deftly bringing it into the present day,” to quote one of the many glowing reviews. And when was the last time you experienced a musical with a 22 piece orchestra onstage? Extraordinary. Also: KILTS GALORE (which I think was the original working title?🤪) Thank you to the Playhouse & talent tiger —killin’ it as always— for inviting me & the bestest theatre kids to hang with: , & .
