Reflections on Unspeakable Tragedies: A Plea for Unity and Humanity

It has taken me more than a week to be able to come out of my shell and reveal a bit of how I've been feeling these past days. After such horrific news, the death of peaceful party-goers, the beheading of 40 children, the burning of women and children in front of their parents' eyes, and so much more, only because they are Jews. It felt like we, as a collective, have been sitting “Shiva”, in remembrance of all the innocent that have been slaughtered to pieces.
Six million of us burned in the concentration camps, their only fault was being a Jew. I am one. I am a Jew. And it felt like my kids were beheaded. One should be like that. I was taught, "بنی‌ آدم اعضای یک دیگرن," which means humans are from the same member; humans are supposed to be like that. That is what I have been taught. But then I see differently.

I was a witness to another atrocious act before the Islamic revolution in my country was formed, where Islamist militants burnt down a movie theater with 275 women and men, young and old, in it. They all burnt to death. I was thinking then, as a 12-year-old, how can people do that to each other? To stand behind the exit doors, preventing people from exiting and hearing their screams. The smell of burnt flesh and still standing to watch and making sure no one survives. All burnt to death. Those people, the Islamist radicals, are now leading my home country. We fled that country but never too far from the notion that it could happen again. That these people are murderers and rapists that deserve to die. America funded them, supported them and still does to this day by giving them 6 Billion dollars on the anniversary of the killing of uprising.

But now they are doing it to Jews in their own country. The same barbaric, disgusting devils that prevailed are still killing innocent people in the name of Islam are still thriving. And America and other superpowers have been feeding these murderers with money and ammunition to kill more and make them more money by selling their military supplies. That's how they make money. And now, even in this country, in the US and the UK, people are defending these killings. Have we not learned anything?

In the face of such unspeakable tragedies, it's natural to feel anger, despair, and a deep sense of injustice. The horrors described above are not just crimes against a particular group but crimes against humanity itself. The fundamental tenets of compassion, empathy, and unity seem to have been forgotten by those who perpetrate such acts and those who support them.
However, it is crucial, even in the face of such darkness, to hold onto the belief in the goodness of humanity. It is not Islam or any other religion that condones such acts of violence, but the extreme ideologies of a few misguided individuals. Religion should promote love, peace, and understanding, and not be a tool for justifying hatred and cruelty.
We must remember that just as these crimes are committed by a minority within any group, there are countless individuals within these communities who vehemently condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with victims, regardless of their background. We must not allow the actions of a few to taint our perception of an entire group of people.
Furthermore, the responsibility falls on the international community to denounce and act against such atrocities. There should be no tolerance for governments or groups that support or fund terrorism. We must hold our leaders accountable and urge them to prioritize human rights over political or economic interests.

In our interconnected world, where information flows freely, we must strive to educate ourselves and others about the dangers of extremism and the importance of tolerance. To combat ignorance and prejudice, we should engage in open dialogues, foster understanding, and promote diversity as a strength rather than a weakness.
The events described above are a stark reminder that the horrors of the past can resurface if we do not actively work to prevent them. We must collectively strive for a world where atrocities like those mentioned are condemned by all, and where we can truly say that we have learned from history. Only through unity and humanity can we hope to prevent the repetition of such unspeakable tragedies.
