Happy 35th Anniversary, ROC! 🎉📺

On August 25, 1991, Roc premiered on FOX and introduced us to the Emerson family — bringing plenty of laughs while also touching on family, marriage, work and real-life issues.

The series starred Charles S. Dutton as Roc Emerson, Ella Joyce as Eleanor, Rocky Carroll as Joey, and the late Carl Gordon as Pop, with Alexis Fields joining the family as Sheila.

And who could forget some of the familiar faces who stopped by over the years, including Garrett Morris, Heavy D, Jamie Foxx, Tone Lōc, Loretta Devine, Rosalind Cash and Richard Roundtree?

Roc aired from August 25, 1991 to May 10, 1994, giving us three seasons and 72 episodes — and even made television history of its own when its second season was performed LIVE!

We also remember Carl Gordon, who made Pop Emerson unforgettable. Mr. Gordon passed away in 2010 at the age of 78. Rest in peace. ❤️

35 years later, ROC still brings back some GOOD memories.

And if you watched the show, you already know I haven’t forgotten Roc and that little skip! 🤣🤣🤣

Remembering Michael Wright. ❤️

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Michael Wright.

For so many of us, he will always be remembered as Eddie King Jr. in The Five Heartbeats. Through his portrayal of Eddie, we didn’t just watch a character — we felt his struggle, his pain, his fall and ultimately, his recovery. Everybody loved Eddie King Jr., and Michael Wright made us understand why.

And then there was Raynathan “Ray” Skuggs in Sugar Hill — another powerful performance that reminded us just how much range and presence Michael Wright brought to the screen.

Thank you for the stories, the music and the memories.

Rest in peace, Michael Wright. ❤️

Fried Green Tomatoes!! I mean seriously the only place I know that I can get them is at Gus World Famous Chicken on Crenshaw and Pico🤷🏽‍♀️ They have perfected the taste over the years. Crisp, tasty and crunchy on the outside with just the right amount of spices, coupled with the best tasting sliced green tomatoes in the world. They also come with a ramekin of ranch dressing. Devine, just Devine 😋 Have you had them yet? .
