This Sunday I’m bringing it back y’all…gratitude kickball.
Gratitude kickball has always been an active meditation for me of kicking problems away and catching my blessings. Teaching subtly how quickly to let go of what doesn’t serve our greatness and how to stay on the watch for our blessings. Ready to catch them. Plus it’s fun to remind these bones we still can play. Come vibe with me if you can. Celebrating my birthday!!! Yay!!!

Peekaboo where are you? I see you… coming into view. A love letter to myself that may perhaps inspire you.
I’ve dreamed a lot of dreams and made a lot of them reality. (✨Thank you God)
My greatest feat though so far has been evolving into higher versions of myself. Learning more about this golden soul of mine. Daring to become who I need to be to make these visions manifest over and over again. Trusting in the ebbs and flows of this journey. Marveling at the strength, the love, and the power God has blessed me with in my gifts and in my perseverance. Trusting myself to keep becoming more than I ever imagined possible, letting spirit lead the way. This is the work; molding the clay of my being into all that God has planted within me.

Right now my brain is in inspiration mode.
The Getty shows really showed me what imagination, teamwork, and discipline can do. I’m super proud of myself and the choir and our team behind the scenes for presenting such a beautiful large scale production.
I believe this next creation will be even grander !! 🫣Can’t wait to see who I become pulling this off. 😝

Pssst: quietly mark your calendars for June 20th, I’ll tell you why soon. 🤫🤐🤭🫡

I wear many hats. But my favorites are designed by my sis .nnekagigi with love, care, intention, and power. It’s an honor to work with you sister. We will continue to rise, bloom, and become more together. Love you.

Introducing:
Mama Eze ‘77:

Mama Eze ‘77 is a ceremonial headdress imagined for the sacred act of retrieval..the moment one reclaims what was taken and restores it to its rightful lineage.

“Eze” is an Igbo word from Nigeria meaning king, ruler, or chief (an embodiment of leadership, authority, and nobility). Paired with “’77,” it calls back to FESTAC ‘77, a historic gathering that celebrated Black and African identity while also marking the painful refusal to return the original Queen Idia ivory mask.

This piece lives in that tension between celebration and denial, presence and absence, memory and reclamation.

The extended arms of the headdress stretch outward as an intentional occupation of space. They disrupt proximity, establishing both protection and power. Let us be!

You are kept at a distance on purpose because not everything is meant to be accessed, touched, or taken again.

The cascading cowrie shell braids signify wealth, prestige, and ancestral continuity. Historically used as currency across parts of Africa, cowries here become both adornment and archive with each strand a lineage carried forward, each shell a marker of value that predates colonial systems of worth.

Above, the tall looping arches rise and curve like the sun, ascending and descending over the crown of the wearer.

They symbolize cyclical power: what was taken will return, what was hidden will rise, and what was denied will be restored.

Mama Eze ‘77 is not costume, SHE is coronation.

A declaration of sovereignty in motion.

It imagines a world where the return of stolen artifacts is not negotiated but enacted and where the one who retrieves them does so not quietly, but
adorned in power, memory, and undeniable authority.

Asé. Asé. Asé. ✨✨✨

I have been working on a very special project. Stay tuned. Woke up this morning excited…a new world is coming into view and me and God created it in my mind. That’s how creativity works, God be whispering and I be listening. Yesterday I heard Nina Simone and the five heartbeats mashed up in my head and it all made sense. It’s a new dawn, a new day, a new life for me and I feel like going on!!!!! Amazing. Feeling like going on is the equivalent of feeling capable and grateful for life, for living. I’m happy to report that I am willing to keep sharing music and shining my heart like a laser beam all over the planet. I feel like going on!!!! I also feel like I got it going on!!!! 😝 Yay! Y’all ready?
