I did a presentation recently about the tree of life and presented on Marc Chagal and Yakov Agam. I'm excited to share that I've submitted a presentation proposal for Sacred Arts 2026: A Transdisciplinary Conference titled:
"We Are the Tree of Life: Sacred Arts, Antisemitism, and Healing Narratives Across Cultures and Media."
This presentation explores how the Tree of Life has served as a powerful symbol of connection, healing, resilience, and meaning across cultures and generations. Together with a Tunisian-born, Sorbonne-trained Jewish educator and cultural curator, we'll examine the intersection of sacred symbolism, storytelling, psychology, and visual art.
Drawing from Jewish traditions, Jungian psychology, and the work of artists such as Marc Chagall and Yaacov Agam. In the presentation, I explored how narratives shape our understanding of identity, trauma, healing, and human interconnectedness. Along with Jacqueline Gmach we explored how sacred stories continue to evolve through contemporary media and digital storytelling.
This presentation reflected many themes that have guided my work in Film/Video-Based Therapy™: the power of narrative, the role of symbolic imagery in healing, and the ways storytelling can help individuals and communities move toward post-traumatic growth as well as the Tree of Life in the traditional sense in Chagal's work and the Kabbalah which focuses on a more abstrat tree of life as in Agam's work.
