My Life’s a Soap
By Anne Simon
My Life’s a soap
A saga never ending
Satirical joke
Outcome? Still pending
Villains take center stage
Characters well cast
Performing a cheap charade
My 15 years of fame
I’ve married for money
I’ve married for love
Loved all the wrong men
Heels Dug in, the going tough
I’ve wrestled with the law
I’ve had and lost it all
Abundance of guffaws
Audiences pass and draw
Descending downhill
Hitting rock bottom
That jagged little pill
Swallowed ,
Wrong path Followed
Caved ,
But should have fought ‘em
Twisted, tragic as Greek tragedy
Pink embarrassment like comedy
No hero, only heroine
Paying thrice the penalty
I’m always in crisis mode
Constant emergency
Karma? Pay-back, ten fold
Treading water, desperately
Matters of life or death
It’s now, or it’s never
Next may be last breath
Survival only for the clever
Is there a real reward
For the utmost drama queen
Cuz, I’ve lived it 7 and 24
Backstage and in magazines
Never to blindly accept
That anyone can do me in
I’ve paid interest on that debt
Like a not so evil twin
My life’s a soap
Bullet proof, with pride I cope
Clinging to the knotted rope
Banking on idealist hope
