Bill Ward’s contribution to Black Sabbath is immeasurable. His identifiable style—hard-hitting, driving, and rooted in simplicity—helped shape Sabbath’s metal sound.

“I was born into drums,” Bill Ward says. “I wanted to play music. I wanted to take it as far as I could. I wanted to become whatever I could. I wanted to roll the dice on it.”

Thankfully, he did—and rolled a seven.

It was emotional to see Ward-E return to his rightful throne behind Sabbath and to witness his support for his longtime friend’s farewell performance. ❤️
