[A Message From TCN Regarding COVID-19]
Hi all,
We are making this post because we want to update you on the status of Taiwanese Culture Night 2020.
In terms of crowdfunding, we have raised $5,534 through UCLA Spark, all thanks to our 106 donors, as well as $9,001 through UCLA funding and 9 sponsorships. All of us who are part of the TCN Team are beyond grateful for all of your support and pledge that all of your donations will help us put on an amazing production!
There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the UCLA campus at this time. However, as you may have already heard, UCLA has issued an official statement that has suspended all in-person classes and transitioned to remote learning platforms through the end of spring quarter, in hopes of preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the LA area. Given that our production, which typically brings in at least 1000 audience members, was projected to take place on April 24, 2020, TCN 2020: The Missing Piece will not be held until further notice. We believe that it is imperative to be flexible and sensitive to all that is taking place, and we will continue to converse with UCLA and Royce Hall officials to gauge the possibilities of postponing this year's production or explore possible alternatives, such as live-streaming.
In light of the events that have happened, please be assured that your donation will be used to support TCN, but on whatever timeline is determined to be appropriate and safe for our team and the UCLA campus community. We will continue to watch over the public policies that have been implemented locally, nationally, and internationally in lieu of containing COVID-19 through preventative care measures. As new information comes our way, we will also certainly update you.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your donation to the UCLA Spark campaign, feel free to contact Taylor Stayton at [email protected].
We hope that you resonate with our mission to create a space for students of Taiwanese heritage to exercise their creative talents as well as share our culture with our peers through production. Even though TCN is not happening as planned, we look forward to sharing our production with you in the future. Thank you once again for your generous contribution and understanding as we transition during this period of uncertainty.
Best,
TCN Board 2020
