I am so incredibly proud to share a project that is deeply close to my heart. In July, DP Åli Senegali and I brought our cameras down to historic Hart Plaza to film BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA: Live in Detroit at the 43rd Annual African World Festival! This high-end, cinematic short documentary is far more than a festival recap—it is a celebration of a 20-year personal and professional friendship that I’ve shared with Blind Boys of Alabama and their incredible guitarist Joey Williams since 2005. Featuring their moving track "Friendship" (personally cleared by Joey Williams), this short film honors the roots of traditional gospel music, independent film production, and the brilliant energy of the African Diaspora. A massive thank you to Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for hosting such a landmark festival and letting us capture this beautiful piece of history.
