Burlesque artists are callously and irresponsibly buying feathers without fully understanding the harm of these purchases.
Many artists are speaking out about the cruelty of feathers and drawing attention to the matter.

For my first time I think it turned out really well! Followed the tutorial from Feather Phase Out (thank you!) except I was lazy and eyeballed it instead of measuring and didn't paint the staves. I did manage to find a left and right pair of fans (actually they were faux silk veils) so I didn't need to reverse one of them which saved time. Overall about 8-9 hours of work solo and a touch under $100 in materials for the pair (only 1 pictured cause the other one is drying). Will try them out later this week!
