I celebrate Black History Month because it is a time to appreciate the history and traditions of African Americans. It is a time to study the past and how it shapes the present. It helps people rejoice because of the heroes and heroines’ contribution to gaining freedom and liberty and the achievements realized as a result of their struggle. As a Black person, I have endured a lot of racism and discrimination. History has in the past been recorded and narrated from the perspective of the majority ethnic groups. However, with the establishment of Black History Month, the nation has one month to focus on the influence of African Americans.

Black History Month offers an opportunity for inclusivity. People can seek to understand what is not been documented in history that indicates the greatness and richness of our collective culture and heritage. Black History Month is a time to review and define Black history. Black history has been defined through the lens of stigma and historical difficulty. Black History Month helps people reflect on an inclusive history of the contributions of all people.

I feel that Black History Month is a way of celebrating important people and events in African Americans' history. Our ancestors and parents played a huge role in bringing about freedom for the slaves and causing change to happen regarding the civil rights and liberties of Black people. It is a time to delight and thank those African Americans for their struggle and for the hope they gave us. It is not a time to remember all the bad things that happened. Instead, it is a time to reflect on integrity, leadership, and the determination that allowed African Americans to reach where we are today.

I feel that I will celebrate Black History Month for the rest of my life because it helps Black people unveil what they have gone through and educate the upcoming generation. It also helps to appreciate the tremendous contributions of African people to the development of civilizations and development.
